<p>This involves a tool 78 for taking a specific number of the nuclear fuel rods 42 for the purposes of removing them from a nuclear fuel assembly 32 and replacing them preferably in a fuel consolidation device 86. The tool has a securing head 200 which in a reciprocal manner is guided inside a casing 80. A particular jaw mechanism 216 for grasping each of the fuel rods of a specific number of rods is supported in a common frame structure 214 and is actuated and controlled by a special device 232, 234, 242. An important aspect of this securing head consists in the fact that each jaw mechanism 216 has a neck part 244 for withdrawing the actuating device 232, 234 from the movable jaw part 220. The casing has alignment devices 82, 206 for orienting the tool precisely with respect to the group of rods focused upon within the fuel assembly so that the spacing of the rods is maintained when they are lifted, inside the casing, by means of the securing head.</p> |
