The invention relates, on the one hand, to a latch for a metal door, especially for a metal door of a metal cabinet, comprising essentially an elastic-return bolt displaced rectilinearly in a case, and, on the other hand, to the process for producing this latch. This latch is characterised in that the case 4 comprises two elements consisting of profile portions of U-shaped cross-section which are fitted perpendicularly one into the other to form the bowl 20 and between which is interposed the wall of the door 2, in which a slot is made for the passage of one of the elements of the case 4.
