PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of an image binary-coding circuit for reproducing a half tone based on a dither method by providing an amplifier for amplifying a signal corresponding to the peak value of a video analog signal in accordance with a feedback quantity. CONSTITUTION:A peak detecting/inverting circuit 11 detects the peak value of the analog video signal and applies an inversion value to the inversion input terminal of an amplifier 14 through a resistance r0, and the amplifier 14 amplifies a signal corresponding to the inversion value of the peak value of the analog video signal in accordance with a feedback quantity. The feedback quantity is varied in accordance with the pattern of that time in a pattern generator 12, and in resistances r1-rm+1, by the ratio of the combined resistance value of a resistance which is not shorted by an analog switch 13, and the resistance r0, the value of an output signal of the amplifier 14 becomes a slice level. A comparator 15 binary-codes the analog video signal and outputs it in accordance with the slide level corresponding to the pattern.
