PURPOSE:To eliminate a moire which is generated in case of recording and reproducing an FM color difference signal, and to obtain a reproducing color video signal of a high picture quality, by bringing two kinds of color difference signals to a time base compression and a time division multiplex, and recording them in other track than that of a luminance signal. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal Y from an encoder 4 is supplied to rotary heads Y1, Y2 through an emphasis circuit 5, a frequency modulator 6, and rotary transformers 81, 82. Color difference signals (R-Y), (B-Y) are supplied to time base compressing circuits 9, 10, brought to time base compression by a compressibility of about 1/2, and from a switching circuit 11, a time division multiplexing signal having a composite synchronizing signal is fetched, converted to an FM time division multiplexing signal by a frequency modulator 15 through an emphasis circuit 14, and supplied to an adding circuit 17 from a high-pass filter 16. FM sound signals of the first and the second channels are supplied to the adding circuit 17 and brought to a frequency division multiplex to a dead low frequency area of the FM time division multiplexing signal, and supplied to rotary heads C1, C2 through rotary transformers 341, 342.
