A tin compound doped with antimony is burnt in a flame whose combustion provides steam, this steam converting the said tin compound to pyrogenic SnO2. The size of the particles of the powder is controlled by acting on the flame using an additional stream of non-combustible gas and a powder is obtained with a particle size less than 1 mu m with an electrical conductivity greater than 0.1 Ohm<-1>.cm<-1>. <IMAGE>
