PURPOSE:To obtain the titled carpet having improved resistance to washing and rich durability, by applying a vinyl chloride paste sol containing a heat-sensitive foaming agent added thereto to a release sheet, passing a bulky nonwoven fabric through the vinyl chloride paste sol, placing a tufted fabric on the resultant coating layer containing the bulky nonwoven fabric therein, and hot curing the above-mentioned sol. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl chloride paste sol 12 containing a heat-sensitive foaming agent added thereto is applied to a release sheet 11 to give <=1mm thickness, and a bulky nonwoven fabric 20 having a thickness almost equal to the above-mentioned thickness, large interstices 19 between fibers and an apparent specific gravity (a) about <=70% specific gravity (b) of the fibers thereof is passed through a bank of the paste sol 12 between a doctor blade 18 and the release sheet 11 to impregnate the interstices 19 with the above-mentioned sol 12. The nonwoven fabric 20 is then taken off from the gap 21 between the doctor blade 18 and the release sheet 11 to make the nonwoven fabric present in the resultant coating layer 13, which is then brought into contact with a back stitch 14. A tufted fabric 15 is then placed thereon, and the resultant laminate is passed through a heating zone 16 above the decomposition temperature of the above-mentioned foaming agent to cure the above-mentioned sol 12. A porous vinyl chloride backing layer 17 is transferred to the tufted fabric 15 through the back stitch 14 to give the aimed carpet having improved application properties without damaging cuchioning properties thereof, etc.
