The device uses a conventional slide-projection device 1, deprived of its own light source. A xenon lamp 2 fitted with an elliptical reflector 13 produces a beam of convergent light, reflected by a cold-light mirror 4 to a focal point F. An aspherical convergent pyrex lens 15 is provided shortly after the latter. This lens 15 makes it possible to obtain a substantially even illumination over the slide, even with the insertion of a movable mask 18 in a plane P located slightly downstream of the lens. <IMAGE>
