PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity, mechanical strength, and durability by incorporating a specified hydrazone compd. as an electrostatic charge transfer material in a photosensitive layer formed on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer formed on the conductive substrate contains as the charge transfer material the hydrazone compd. represented by formula I in which R1 is a group of formula II or -OR7; R2 is H lower alkyl, halogen, or lower alkoxy; R3 is H, an aromatic hydrocarbon group, or the like; R4 is aryl or propargyl; and R5-R7 are each lower alkyl, benzyl,aryl, aromatic hydrocarbon group, or the like. It is preferred to use as a charge generating material a trisazo, bisazo, or phthalocyanine pigment, and such a hydrazone compd. may be used for either of a single layer type photosensitive body or the charge transfer layer of the functionally separated type photosensitive body, thus permitting the photosensitive body high in sensitivity and superior in mechanical strength and durability to be obtained. |
