SILVER HALIDE COLOR PHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity, to lower fog and to attain superior color reproductivity by incorporating specified photosensitive silver halide grains and a magenta dye image forming coupler in a photosensitive silver halide (AgX) emulsion layer formed on a support. CONSTITUTION:At least one of the silver halide emulsion layers contains the photosensitive silver halide grains having outer crystal faces composed essentially of faces 100 and the magenta dye image forming coupler represented by the formula shown on the right in which Z is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form an N-contg. hetero ring optionally substd.; X is H or a group to be released by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent; and R is H or a substituent. It is referred for the silver halide grains to have an average grain diameter of 0.2-0.8mum and a grain diameter distribution variation coefft. of <=0.22 and the use of the combination of the silver halide grains and the coupler permits color reproductivity and sensitometry characteristics to be improved and high sensitivity can be attained without deteriorating gradation characteristics.
