The device is pivotable between an operating position and a rest position and is linked to a slide (8) which is traversable in U-rails (2) fastened under a work-table top (25). A locking tongue is connected to an outer tube (5) and is provided with recesses which in the operating position enclose an eccentric pin which is rotatably mounted on the work-table top (25) and has a notch of such a depth that a lug of the locking tongue (3) can be moved through the notch into the locking position, and then the locking tongue can be locked by rotating the eccentric pin. <IMAGE>
