Cytoprotection of the gastric mucosa in a mammal receiving aspirin perorally may be obtained by use of cytoprotectively effective amount of sodium thiosulfate or 3,3'-thiobis[propanoic acid] (TBPA) optionally in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. A composition for providing cytoprotection of the gastric mucosa in a mammal receiving aspirin perorally comprises aspirin in combination with a cytoprotectively effective amount of sodium thiosulfate TBPA. |
