PRODUCTION OF POLYESTER MOLDING OF EXCELLENT GAS BARRIER PROPERTY

PURPOSE:To improve the gas barrier property of a polyester molding, by apply ing an anchor coat layer to the surface of the polyester by coating it with a solvent solution of a polyester having a specified composition and drying the wet film and coating the anchor coat layer with a vinyl alcohol resin solu tion. CONSTITUTION:The application of said anchor coat to the surface of a polyester molding is performed by application and subsequent drying of a solvent solution of a polyester having the following composition and an intrinsic viscosity >=0.4. Namely, said polyester has a composition: an acid component (a) comprising 90-40mol% terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid and 10-60mol% 2-12C aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and a diol component (b) comprising 90-10mol% 2-8C linear or cyclic diol and 10-90mol% 3-6C branched diol. As said vinyl alcohol resin, an ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer having an ethylene content of 20-55mol%, a degree of saponification of the vinyl acetate component >=90mol% and an intrinsic viscosity of 0.7-1.5dl/g is desirable.
