PURPOSE:To produce the titled roller which is lightweight, low in production cost and excellent in a production rate, by mixing a specified silicone rubber material with a specified expandable microspheres and a silicone oil and molding this mixture by feeding it to a mold. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. crosslinking silicone rubber material is mixed with 0.1-30pts.wt. expandable microspheres of a diameter <=100mum, formed by encapsulating a volatile substance (e.g., butane) within spheres walled with a film made of a thermoplastic synthetic resin (e.g., PE) and 1-50pts.wt. silicone oil (e.g., dimethylsilicone oil). The obtained mixture is fed to a mold for forming rollers and, after burying a previously prepared metallic shaft 3 in the mixture, the whole is heated to 80-200 deg.C to expand the microspheres into hollow spheres and at the same time to crosslink the silicone rubber material into a silicone rubber coating 2. In this way, a silicone oil-containing porous silicone rubber roller 1 is obtained. |
