A clamping device (2) for a cable screw union (1) has a screw sleeve (3) with an internal or external thread (4) or suchlike device for fitting to machines, switching cabinets or the like, or for passing through walls. Furthermore, it can be connected to a further screw sleeve (6) in order to hold a seal (31) between the two screw sleeves. Provided in the screw sleeve (3) is an axially displaceable mating piece which acts on a clamping insert (7) and it forms radially against the cable as a result of its axial displacement. In this case, an annular disk (11) which is located in the screw sleeve (13) and has a pressure surface (12) is displaceable in the axial direction by means of tension screws (13) towards the annular pressure surface (8) of the screw sleeve (3), as the mating piece. The clamping insert (7) can thus be operated independently of the seal (31). <IMAGE>
