PURPOSE:A photopolymerization initiator which is excellent in transmittance, workability, economy and safety and can give a large curing depth and can permit polymerization and curing of a thick film or molding, containing and alpha-diketone and a specified peroxy ester. CONSTITUTION:0.1-99.9wt% alpha-diketone having an absorption maximum at a wavelength of 400-700nm, represented by formula I [wherein X and y are each a (substituted) hydrocarbon group and may be combined together directly or through a bivalent (substituted) hydrocarbon group and further X and Y may be combined together to form a fused aromatic ring structure] (e.g., acenaphthenequinone) is mixed with 99.9-0.1wt% benzophenone group-containing polyperoxyester of formula II (wherein R1 and R1' are each a 4-8C tert. alkyl, or a 9-12C tert. aralkyl, R2 and R2' are each H, a 4-8C tert, alkoxy or a 9-12C tert. aralkyloxy). After the addition of 0.01-40wt% of this photopolymerization initiator, an ethylenically unsaturated compound or the like is photopolymerized. |
