For the production of frame strips by a V-shaped cutting of a strip, use is made in a strip-cutting machine of an angled cutting head (12) with two cutters (14) which meet one another in full at the centre (16) of the cutting head and from this point extend obliquely both rearwards and downwards. It has been shown that predominantly the inner halves of the cutters (14) are exposed to wear, but since the cutting edges of the cutters must be situated in the plane of the outsides of the V-cutter set, the life of the cutters cannot be extended by simply reversing the two cutters. According to the invention, however, such a life-extending reversal can be carried out by exchanging the cutters for one another and by virtue of the fact that each of the cutters is identically shaped (26) at both ends. <IMAGE>
