PURPOSE:To manufacture the titled medium so that the axis of easy magnetization of a magnetic particle in a coated film is oriented so as to be roughly vertical to the film surface, by coating a magnetic coated film onto a supporting body between those which have an auxiliary magnet train of the same pole, for instance, in an inlet side, of one main magnetic pole to dry it. CONSTITUTION:N-S opposed main magnets 11, 12 are provided and on one main magnet 12 the auxiliary magnet train 14 of the same pole is installed in an inlet side, in this case, in the running direction (a) of a magnetic recording medium. As for this auxiliary magnet 14, plural magnetic poles 141 are arranged at an interval 142. As for this auxiliary magnet train 14, a permanent and an electromagnet such as that which is brought to multipolar magnetization at an interval on the surface of a magnet, an auxiliary magnet train consisting of the laminated body of an auxiliary magnet and a non-magnetic material, an auxiliary magnet train which has embedded plural auxiliary magnets into a non-magnetic material, etc. are used. In this case, the interval of the auxiliary magnet and the length of one magnetic pole are set to 0.5-10mm. Also, the main magnet whose center magnetic field is 1,000-6,000G, and the auxiliary magnetic pole whose center magnetic field is 1,000-5,000G are used. In this way, by the effect of a vibration magnetic field, the vertical orientation degree and the surface roughness are raised.
