摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to continuously carry out a highly efficient machining process and a finishing process with a high degree of efficiency, by forming several inclined grooves in the outer surface of a polisher opposing a workpiece such that the depth of each groove gradually varies in the direction of relative movement of the workpiece and the polisher. CONSTITUTION:Flat sections 103, inclined grooves 102 and slits 101 positioned between the former two are alternately and radially formed in the outer surface of a polisher 1. Further, when the polisher 1 is moved relative to a workpiece 2 in the direction (a), a negative pressure is effected between the polisher and the workpiece 2 due to the effect of a liquid polishing material 3 so that no substantial gap is obtained between the workpiece 2 and the polisher 1, thereby it is possible to carry out the polisher process with a relatively high matching pressure. Then, the polisher is moved in the direction (b) so that a positive pressure is effected due to the effect of the inclined grooves 102 and the polishing material 3, and therefore, the workpiece 2 is floated up from the polisher 1, thereby it is possible to carry out a light machining process. Thus, both rough polishing process and finishing process may be effectively made by one and the same machine.
