PURPOSE:To enhance performance and operability, by providing a switching means for transmitting a driving force selectively to a paper-feeding means or a ribbon-controlling means. CONSTITUTION:A feeding motor 19 controls paper feeding, ribbon feeding or the like, and normally, it transmits a driving force to a controlling rod 14 having an irregular shape through gears and a belt. The rod 14 penetrates through a slidable carriage, and controls take-up of an ink ribbon, up/down shift of the ink ribbon and a correction ribbon capable of correcting a printed character, through gears provided in the carriage. A clutch solenoid 20 enables the driving force of the motor 19 to be selectively used for controlling a ribbon in the carriage or for driving a platen. Where the motor 19 is not engaged with the platen 1, the driving force of the motor 19 is used for driving the ribbon in the carriage, shifting the ribbon, driving the correction ribbon or shifting the correction ribbon. |
