PURPOSE:To improve productivity by the constitution consisting in engaging an engaging member moved in the opposite direction by a tuning cylinder with a tie bar near the terminal of die clamping to execute a die clamping operation of a molding machine by a moving cylinder then actuating a die clamping cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Working fluid is introduced into the moving cylinder 9 to retract a rod 9a and to move a movable platen 2 toward a stationary platen 1. The working fluid to the cylinder 9 is decreased to decrease the moving speed of the movable platen 2 and the working fluid is admitted to the head side of the tuning cylinder 10 just before a die 12 is mated with a die 11. As a result, a nut box 5 and a hollow piston 7 integral therewith connected by a connecting plate 5a are moved in the direction opposite from the plate 2. A split nut 4 is engaged with a screw part 3a in this state and the working fluid is admitted to the right chamber of the piston 7 to press the movable platen 2 toward the stationary platen 1, by which the dies are clamped.
