[Also in Groups XVI and XVII] A wrapping machine (see Group XVII) incorporates a guillotine shears for cutting off lengths of wrapping material from a web, the shear blade 180 co-operating with an edge 170 of a plate 166 and being reciprocated vertically by cam means 186, 188, 190. The blade 180, the cutting edge of which is set at an angle to the edge 170, is carried by a frame consisting of cross-bars 178, 184 joined at their ends by vertical bars 182 (Fig. 2, not shown), providing vertical sliding surfaces for engaging guide rails (not shown). The web is fed forward for cutting by friction rollers 140, 142, the roller 140 being raised clear of the roller 142 periodically to produce an intermittent feed (see Group XVI).
