PURPOSE:To increase the operability and welding accuracy by calculating the wire extension from the welding current and wire feeding speed, then by controlling the position of the welding torch based on the pattern of the variation thereof. CONSTITUTION:Heads 13-15 and welding torch 16 are placed on a truck 12. The head 14 moves the torch 16 in the vertical directions and head 13 in the horizontal directions respectively and head 15 oscillates the torch 16. An amplifier 30 detects via a rotation detector 32 the feeding speed of a wire 8 and a current detector 33 detects the welding current, which is inputted into a control device 23 via an A/D convertor 22. The control device 23 controls the heads 13-15 for vertical, horizontal and oscillating movements based on the variation pattern of the wire extension found by the digital arithmetic processing. Due to the automatic profiling being enabled by the welding conditions only the operability and welding accuracy are increased.
