PURPOSE:To suppress inner pressure rise of cell by covering the negative electrode active material with vinyl polymer film thereby suppressing production of hydrogen gas considerably. CONSTITUTION:Vinyl polymer film is covered over the surface of negative electrode active material by performing polymerization of vinyl monomer in aqueous medium under existence of negative electrode active material. The negative electrode active material to be covered with vinyl polymer film is active metal, preferably zinc or zinc alloy. Preferably, powder of 48-200 mesh (Tyler sieve) is employed in viewpoint of the discharge characteristic of cell and the workability when assembling the cell. |
