A frame (1) for a chair (2) as shown, table or the like, which frame is adjustable and capable of providing a substantially horizontal support surface (4) above inclined ground, is provided with adjustment means (5) pivotally connected to a support (3) which carries the support surface (4). Preferably, the adjustment means (5) include at least one adjusting strut (6) and at least one supporting beam (7) which strut(s) and beam(s) are pivotally connected to the support (3). The adjusting strut (6) can be located and retained in one of a series of notches (10) provided in the supporting beam (7). The supporting beam (7) may be provided at either end with prongs (12) to aid anchorage of the frame (1) to an inclined soil surface.
