<p>PURPOSE:To make the background of additionally printed information white so that additionally printed characters can be distinguished clearly as positive pictures, by adjustably setting the writing position of the additionally printed information in a main scanning direction and forming the characters under light shielded conditions and the background by erasing. CONSTITUTION:An eraser 24 is composed of an erasing light source 241 and the 1st liquid crystal shutter 244 and the shutter 244 is constituted by arraying light- transmission controlling electrodes in the width direction of a photosensitive body. The erasing width in the width direction of the photosensitive body can be controlled by selectively applying light-transmission controlling voltages to each electrode. Moreover, the light of the original picture of an additional character printing section is intercepted by means of a shutter plate 20 so that additional characters can be printed. Therefore, an erasing area can be fixed in a relatively small unit and characters can be printed as positive pictures by dots, and then, a character printing area can be fixed accurately in accordance with the arrayed state of the characters. Moreover, the background of the printed characters becomes white and no original picture is superposed upon the printed characters. In addition, the printed characters never disappear by white exposure of the original.</p> |
