PURPOSE:To provide high resolusion against relatively few number of picture elements and to reduce the generation of luminance moire by reading the picture element information at every line in a solid-state image pickup element together with the information of its adjoining two lines. CONSTITUTION:An output signal W from a secondary reading amplifier 21 in a CCD 22 is limited to band of about 1MHz through a LPF 40 and is gamma- corrected in a gamma correction circuit 41 to produce a Y signal. The output from the secondary reading amplifier 21 in the CCD 22 is also limited to the band of 1MHz through a LPF 23 and is gamma-corrected in a gamma correction circuit 25 to be inputted to an operational circuit 27. Since a R and B signals are generated sequentially in the output from a primary reading amplifier 3 in the CCD 22 at every line, either signal is limited to the band of 1MHz and is gamma-corrected in a Y correction circuit 26 to be supplied to the subtraction circuit 27. In this circuit 27, R-Y is provided with Y subtracted from R for any line, and B-Y is provided with Y subtracted from B for the next line.
