PURPOSE:To synthesize plural pieces of picture information by providing plural write/read means on the same screen of a storage medium. CONSTITUTION:When the storage reproduction system heads 401-403 record and reproduce the picture signals, these heads are defined as the R, G and B picture signal systems respectively. The head 401 contains a semiconductor laser 413, a half mirror 411, an analyzer 410, etc. which are controlled by a recording/reproduction control part 412. Other heads 402 and 403 have the same structure as the head 401. A picture reading part 900 reads an original and delivers it in the form of digital signals after A/D conversion. A picture processor 500 gives operations including the dither processing, etc. to the digital signals sent from the part 900. A coding/decoding device CODEC600 codes the picture signals to perform the compression of data or decodes the coded picture signals.
