PURPOSE:To lessen projected areas and occupied spaces viewed from rotative axis directions of a rotational polygon mirror by providing a flat-type scanning lens at a rear state of the polygon mirror and also providing a reflection mirror at a rear stage of its lens. CONSTITUTION:After light beams polarized by the rotational polygon mirror 3 have passed through the flat-type scanning lens 7, optical paths are bent by the reflection mirror 8. The light beams 15 coming out of the reflection mirror 8 pass through a lower portion in the vicinity of a flat surface of the scanning lens 7 and arrive at a surface of sensitive substances 5 to carry out scanning works. Thus the light beams are so bent on the way that the projected areas viewed from the rotative axis directions of the rotational polygon mirror 3 become small and can lessen the spaces occupied in a beam scanner's device.
