PURPOSE:To extremely easily obtain an oriented thin film, by applying a magnetic field upon a film expanded on the surface of a liquid and adhering the film to a base plate or film. CONSTITUTION:After a magnetic field is applied upon a film 4 on the surface of a liquid 1 by means of an electromagnet 8 and molecules are oriented in one direction, a base plate 7 is repeatedly put in and out the liquid 1 while the surface pressure is maintained at a fixed level by means of a partition plate 3. As a result, the oriented film 4 adheres to the base plate 7. Therefore, a film which is oriented in an optional three-dimensional direction can be manufactured.
