PURPOSE:To reverse the time base of a chroma signal without confusing hues of chroma signals by taking the necessary measures in advance for digital chroma signals which are written in a memory to one horizontal period and in case of reading, receive an address assignment in the contrary direction to that in case of writing for a sketch period. CONSTITUTION:Signals R-Y and B-Y are supplied an orthogonal modulator 14 and are modulated orthogonally together with sub-carriers SC1 and SC2. A burst signal BU is also supplied the modulator 14. Obtained chroma signals CHRs are mixed with luminance signals Y and synchronizing signals SYNC by mixer 18 and composite video signals V1 are supplied an AD converter 20. Obtained digital video signals DV1 are written in one horizontal period memories 21 and 22. When data are read out, the above signals DV1 receive the address assignment in a contrary direction to that in the case of writing for data corresponding to the sketching period. Likewise, either hue of the signals SC1 and SC2 supplying the modulator 14 is fed by moving it 180 deg. to a standard hue. Thus the time base can be reversed without confusing hues of the chroma signals.
