PURPOSE:To easily perform work for a random workpiece, by providing a sensor part or the like for obtaining a proper signal in accordance with a kind of the workpiece from a flow of pressure fluid for driving a hydraulic cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic cylinder 3, being driven by pressure fluid 2, holds each kind of workpieces 6a, 6b, 6c between a piston rod 4 of the cylinder 3 and reference pieces 5, provided in a machining station, to be placed in a clamped condition. Pressure fluid 2, being contained in a tank 7a, is supplied to the respective hydraulic cylinders 3 via a supplying pipe line 8a, pump 9a driven by a motor 9b and a selector valve 10, while the fluid returns to a tank 7b via a return side pipe line 8b and the selector valve 10. And an arithmetic part 13, inputting a detection pulse from a sensor part 12, generates a proper output signal in accordance with a clamping position of the hydraulic cylinder 3, further an external sequencer 14 controls the selector valve 10 to be switched.
