PURPOSE:To obtain favorable printing quality in both lateral writing printing and vertical writing printing, by setting a print dot period and a printing voltage in the lateral writing printing to be different from those in the vertical writing printing. CONSTITUTION:In lateral writing printing, a selection signal 5 is at Lo level, whereby a logical product of printing data 4 and a pulse signal 2 is outputted from a NAND circuit 22. Namely, a heating element 1 is driven with a period of a predetermined print dot period Ta (Ta=0.6-1.0msec) and a printing pulse width of a predetermined printing pulse width ta. In this case, a transistor 8 is turned ON, and a predetermined printing voltage Va is supplied from a power source 6 to the element 1. In vertical writing printing, the selection signal 5 is at Hi level, so that a logical product of the printing data 4 and a pulse signal 3 is outputted from the circuit 22. Namely, the element 1 is driven with a print dot period Tb longer than the predetermined print dot period Ta (Ta<Tb). |
