<p>PURPOSE:To enable a steering force to be properly and positively detected by allowing a relative displacement in rotation between an input shaft and an output shaft which are connected with a torsion bar to be detected by a non-contact sensor which is provided around the shaft as an integral part within a steering gear body. CONSTITUTION:An input-output shaft 2 connected to a steering handle is connected with a pinion shaft 3 connected to a steering wheel by means of a torsion bar 4 where they can be rotated relatively within the range of the specified angle. The rotating force of an electric motor 10 is provided to the end of the pinion shaft 3 opposite to the input shaft 1 as an auxiliary steering force through a reduction gear mechanism 11. Both a Hall device 20 as a non-contact sensor which detects the relative displacement in rotation due to twist of the torsion bar 4, and a magnet 21 which faces each other to the Hall device, are provided around the both shafts 2 and 3 as an integral part allowing the operation of the electric motor 10 to be controlled based on the output from the Hall device 20.</p> |
