PURPOSE:To allow a steering wheel to be simply and accurately installed by inserting a stopper piece into a gap section formed between a joining surface formed on a shaft section of a steering shaft and a stopper groove formed in a shaft hole of the steering wheel. CONSTITUTION:In fitting a steering wheel 13 onto a steering shaft 11, a shaft section 12 of the shaft 11 is fitted into a shaft hole 14 of a wheel 13 first. At this moment, if the shaft section is rotated to the direction of B, for example by 2 deg., a gap section 22 remains within the shaft hole 14 in such a way that it faces each other to a joining surface 21 of the shaft section 12 which is tilted to the direction of B by 2 deg., and is connected to a stopper groove 15. Then, a stopper piece 18c which is found suitable to the above said gap section 22, is selected out of stopper pieces 18a through 18d which are prepared in advance, and is inserted into the above said gap section 22. This allows a convex section 19c to be engaged with the stopper groove 15. This causes the shaft section 12 to be connected with the shaft hole 14 as an integral unit enabling the wheel 13 to be accurately positioned.
