PURPOSE:To carry out quick and efficient decoking preventing the thermal deformation of piping, etc., by passing a specific oxygen-containing hot gas through a crude coke oven gas transfer system in two steps, thereby igniting and burning the deposited coke. CONSTITUTION:Gas having an oxygen concentration of >=15% and heated at 600-800 deg.C is passed through a coke oven gas transfer system to effect the ignition of deposited coke. When the coke begins to burn, the system in supplied with a gas having an oxygen-concentration of 5-15% and a temperature of 600-800 deg.C to continue the combustion of the deposited coke. EFFECT:It can be applied not only to the direct heat-recovery system such as gas stream heating pipe, etc., but also indirectly to a system having heat- exchanger.
