PURPOSE:To prevent a steering wheel from being pushed afterward into a cabin when a vehicle collides by configurating a device in such a way that a support member is spanned between both dash side panels and is connected with them, and the center section of the supporting member is connected to a floor side by the medium of a stay. CONSTITUTION:A support member 8A is spanned between both dash side panels 7 and is connected with them, and the center section of the support member is also connected to the upper section of a floor tunnel by the medium of a stay 6A so as to increase the stiffness of installation. On the other hand, a steel adapter plate 14 bent in a 'L' like form is arranged on the forward end of a post bracket 9A which is installed on the support member 8A, and the forward end of the post bracket 9A is connected with a dash upper panel 2 by the medium of the adapter plate 14. And a steering column 10 is installed onto the post bracket 9A in a conventional manner by the medium of a bracket 11 attached to the column 10. This configuration prevents a steering wheel 13 from being pushed afterward into a cabin when a vehicle collides.
