<p>An improved water-wash spray booth of the type in which exhaust air lifts liquid from a reservoir 23 via air liquid separators 28 to a trough 17 and such lifted liquid flows from the trough 17 over a floodsheet 15 back to the reservoir. An open top chamber 38 is positioned immediately below the liquid surface within the reservoir and is connected at its bottom to a conduit 40 which discharges into the reservoir at a location spaced from the chamber 38. A flow of liquid from the trough 17 above the floodsheet 15 via a pipe 42, 43 induces a turbulent flow of liquid from the surface of the reservoir downwardly through the chamber 38 and out the conduit 40 for breaking up paint particles into smaller particles, which collect as a mat at the bottom of reservoir 22. As shown, fan 35 draws air through the system to entrain liquid which is separated from the air firstly at 28, then at 30, then at 32. More than one nozzle 43 may be used, and pipe 40 may have a venturi construction. <IMAGE></p> |
