PURPOSE:Lysozyme is added to a culture mixture of lactobacillus to kill the cells and they are converted into a powder, then the powder is formed together with starch and sweeteners into a solid product whereby cookies containing cell bodies of lactobacillus of good storability is obtained in such a form as it can be automatically weighed and packaged. CONSTITUTION:Lysozyme is added to a culture mixture of Lactobacillus to kill cell bodies by no use of heat. The killed cell bodies are dried into a powder and the powder is mixed with appropriate amounts of starch and sweeteners. The mixture is formed into small-sized pieces of a certain solid shape. The resultant cookies contain a large amount of cell bodies of Lactobacillus and has a possibility to activate useful microorganisms in human bodies. Further, since the cell bodies are killed without heating, the proteins are not denatured and mass production of the powder becomes possible.
