PURPOSE:To efficiently generate charge corresponding to incident infrared rays, by respectively connecting shift registers to each of a plurality of infrared detectors arranged unidimensionally and providing switching elements shortcircuiting the outputs of a plurality of the infrared detectors. CONSTITUTION:An infrared detector 11 is constituted by unidimensionally arranging a plurality of infrared detectors, and a shift register 12 and a switching active element 14 are connected to each infrared detector and constituted as separate chips to be arranged in a package. Infrared rays are intermittently incident to the detector 11 by the opening and closing of a chopper and the charge accumulated in the detector 11 is read after a predetermined time by the register 12 and, after reading, the output of the detector 11 is shortcircuited immediately before the next intermittence by the element to discharge residual charge. By this method, the accumulation of charge in the next chopper in closed state is started from the state of residual charge of 0 and efficient accumulation of charge corresponding to incident infrared rays can be performed. |
