PURPOSE:To obtain highly accurate range finding information, by operating range finding information on the basis of the sum of two kinds of signals and high level signal outputted from a light receiving means. CONSTITUTION:Light receiving means 5a, 5b receive reflected light from a range finding object obtained by projecting light to the range finding object from a light projecting means 1 to output first and second signals relatively changing in dependence on the distance of the range finding object. A signal processing means 10 selects a high level signal from the first and second signals and range finding information is operated on the basis of the high level signal and the sum of the first and second signals. By this method, even if a large quantity of spot light is incident to either one of one of the sides of the means 5a, 5b, a high level signal having a good S/N ratio is selected and highly accurate range finding information can be obtained. |
