PURPOSE:To improve discharge performance by forming an oxide layer on the surface of a sintered substrate by anodic oxidation. CONSTITUTION:A porous nickel sintered substrate is anodically oxidized in an alkaline solution to form an oxide layer on its surface. For example, a sintered substrate is immersed in 10-15wt% sodium hydroxide solution kept at 30-40 deg.C, and anodically oxidized at a current density of 0.5-1.5A/m<2> per surface area of the sintered substrate. Thereby, dissolution of the nickel sintered substrate in nickel nitrate or cadmium nitrate solution is prevented and discharge performance is increased. |
