PURPOSE:To improve the comfortableness and enable economical operation of the air conditioner by selecting a mode mixed region having a part or entire part of operation mode and discriminating the indoor air temperature at every predetermined time by timer means for determining the operation mode within this range. CONSTITUTION:The outdoor air temperature T is divided into four regions, i.e. (1)...T<=T1, (2)...T1<T<=T2, (3)...T2<T<=T3 and (4)...T>T3. Respective detected temperatures of T1, T2 and T3 correspond to the outputs of comparators 1a, 1b and 1c of an outdoor air temperature detection circuit 1. In the region (1)...T<=T1, a room heating operation mode is selected. Further, in the region (4)...T>T3, a room cooling operation mode is selected. In the region (3)...T2<=T<T3, a dry operation mode is selected. Now, in the region (2)...T1<T<=T2, the operation mode is selected by the indoor air temperature detection at every predetermined time by timer means. When the room temperature (t) is less than t1, a room heating operation mode is selected. When the room temperature (t) is more than t2, a dry operation mode is selected. In case of t1<t<t2, a blowing mode is selected.
