PURPOSE:To effectively scatter a getter in an enclosure, by providing a getter scatterer and a getter scattering gas source in the enclosure, and emitting an electron beam from an electron gun to heat at least one of the getter scatterer and the getter scattering gas source. CONSTITUTION:An antenna getter scatter 10, which is located on an antenna 9 secured to an electron gun 8 and extending a funnel 3, and a getter scattering gas source 12, which is attached to a mask frame 7 by a support 13 and located where an electron beam 11a collides, are provided in the enclosure of a color picture tube of the shadow mask type. The getter scatter 10 is heated by a high-frequency heater 21 located outside the enclosure. The getter scattering gas source 12 is heated by the electron beam 11a. The interior of the enclosure is thus maintained as a high-degree vacuum. The getter scatterer and the getter scattering gas source can be located in a very wide range to effectively scatter a getter in the enclosure.
