1,4-Disubstd.-3-(N-substd.-carboxamido)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydroquinoline derivs. and analogues of formula(I), and their tautomers in which A1 and A2 are interchanged and the double bond is in the 2,3-posn., and their acid-addn. salts are new. (R1-R3 are H, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy, NR6R7 or NR6COR8; or R1+R2 or R2+R3 form O-COR8; R4 is C1-4 alkyl, C2-4 alkenyl, C1-4 alkylene forming a ring with the 8-posn. C atom; R5 is 5-or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; A1 is OR12, O-COR8; Az is O or NR6; R6 and R7 are H or C1-4 alkyl; R8 is C1-4 alkyl; R12 is H, a cation of C1-4 alkyl; and R13 is H or C1-4.
