PURPOSE:To perform a slope correction with high accuracy by using a means to eliminate the offset produced by the shift of an objective lens out of a screw error control signal containing said offset. CONSTITUTION:The skew error control signal S is applied to a radial skew coil 50 via a phase compensating circuit 48 and a drive circuit 49 for skew control. This skew control controls the radial slope of an optical system stored and fixed into an optical pickup 11 with pivot bearings 14 and 14 used as fulcrums. Then the optical axis of an objective lens 21 is kept orthogonal to the surface of a disk 4. If the optical axis of the lens 21 is tilted to the disk surface, the skew error control signal S is obtained in response to said tilt by deleting the mixture of the offset component of the track error signal produced by the shift of the lens 21 toward its radius direction. Thus the skew control is secured with high accuracy even in a tracking servo action mode.
