PURPOSE:To add the information of a scale pattern which does not exist on an original to a copy image with an optional size by constituting an eraser with an erasing light source and a liquid crystal shutter. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic charger 23, an eraser 24, a developing unit 10, a transfer charger 19, a separating charger 20, a cleaning unit 22, etc. are arranged around a photosensitive drum 9. The eraser 24 consists of the erasing light source and the liquid crystal shutter and light transmission control electrodes, namely, segment electrodes are arranged in the transverse direction of the photosensitive drum 9 to constitute the liquid crystal shutter. Prescribed scale pattern information having a size corresponding to the indication from a scale size indicating means is generated and a light transmission control voltage is applied to individual segment electrodes selectively to control erasing in the transverse direction of the photosensitive drum 9 and printing of characters including the scale pattern. |
