Method for manufacturing plates having characters in relief, which consists in superposing two rigid plates of different colour (bottom plate and top plate), then in cold drawing (stamping) by means of a punch-and-die tool, and finally in detaching from the top plate the cut-out portions embossed by the bottom plate. This method is characterised, on the one hand, in that the bottom plate is made from polypropylene and, on the other hand, in that the top plate is made from an adhesive-coated aluminium sheet, and finally in that the punch and the die correspond size for size and have sharp edges on their active part. Application: registration plates for vehicles.
