2-amino-5-hydroxy-4-methyl pyrimidine derivs. (I) [R=H, C1-15 alkyl; R'=H, C1-15 alkyl, C5-8 cycloalkyl, C3-15 alkenyl, phenyl, thienyl phenyl alkyl! are prepd. by the reaction of compds (II) with amine. This reaction is performed at 90 - 125≦̸C. The title compds inhibit leukotriene synthesis and 5-lipoxygenose enzyme. Thus they are useful in the treatment of asthma, inflammation, cardiovascular spasms, psoriasis, cancer, and bronchitis.
