The invention relates to a device making it possible to expose oneself to the rays of the sun without risking "heatstroke". It consists of a flexible and impermeable base 1 on which a person may stretch out. This base comprises, at its periphery, a raised structure 2 permitting storage of a quantity of water of a depth of less than 25 centimetres. The peripheral structure 2, of low height, less than 30 centimetres, is composed of one or more inflatable or non-inflatable rolls. The device according to the invention is intended particularly for those persons who are unable to withstand heat very well. It permits intensive, optimum and rapid tanning, in a comfortable and relaxing position, whilst avoiding the dangers of conventional tanning. <IMAGE>
