In a time measuring instrument comprising a device for outputting the date and time of day, a data memory, a computing device and a device for displaying the zenith angle of the sun as a function of the respective geographical position and season, in order to produce a visualisation of the respective actual zenith angle of the sun and of the timings which are bound up therewith, for performing rituals, it is provided that the display device has an image-representing area (2) with a path (3) of motion which is laterally bounded in each case and is shaped approximately like a conical section and on which a representation (4) of the sun is arranged which moves as a function of the time of day. <IMAGE>
